The never-finished series...

An interesting project from my second senior year at Wanye. Never got finished but I still dig the shots I got. Showed some of them at CPop during that local artist show they did in '06 but nothing ever came of it.

Agitprop!

The first of my grad school work, all 16x20 C-Prints, mounted on birch panel, painted then coated with a 2 part resin. Lots of fun but the process became unwieldy. Inspired by some favorite sources of mine: comic book splash pages, Soviet propaganda & Gonzo master Ralph Steadman.

News from the front

My tribute to Otto Dix. Forgive the light frame, this is an old jpg it'll be stained in it's final form.
More work soon, the jpgs I have are terrible & need to be re-shot. On another note, tonight's Lost was amazing, I wish I could join the Dharma Initiative...

Allow me to introduce myself

I am John Shaw a Michigan photographer, graduate student and adjunct professor. I am also a grown-up punker, tattoo enthusiast, comic book fanboy, husband to Holley, multiple cat owner and general malcontent. Art and politics are absolutely inseparable for me, though believe a sense of humor is mandatory when dealing with such a ridiculous subject. Nothing ruins good political art like a self righteous lack of humor. In the course of my education, I have also started a small business providing large format inkjet printing and general photographic services to area artists. A more authentic site is forthcoming, but this should be a fun experiment. Keep an eye out for photos, printing info & pictures of my cats...
